"Man like mountain of memory and scar "
Is a book of graphic expressions by Lisolomzi Pikoli
The mountain serves in this book as a visual metaphor juxtaposed to mankind: a landform of raised earth that has been there for millions of years, withstanding the forces of nature, enduring harsh and pleasant seasons, and is eventually worn down by erosion. For me, the mountain’s lifecycle tells a similar story to that of mankind.
We are delivered into the earth taking time to grow, peak and then make our way back into the earth from which we came. Each journey varies according to our climates and conditions that unfold in a complex maze of experience, memory and life. Enduring the test of time through the temperate and harsh seasons, we leave our imprints on each other in the form of memory and scar.
